    Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie

One of my favorite fall memories from childhood is going to The Headless Horseman event at Conner Prairie (a.k.a. Conner Scarie). After attending this event as a child, The Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane hit
the list of favorite movies and tall tales of mine. I have now been able to share that enjoyment with my children. They have enjoyed watching the cartoon for years now and were thrilled to be able to experience The Headless Horseman event this past weekend. They could not get enough of the shows, crafts, games, and activities. My husband and I bounced back and forth allowing the kids to stop and experience all they could.

After talking to the candidates running for Mayor of Conner Scarie, we cast our votes into the cauldron. Then it was off to watch Disney's "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" in the outdoor theatre. After the short film, my children enjoyed making a headless horseman craft and walking through the Indian Village. As we walked along, stopping at different booths, my children wanted to take time to play percussion instruments at "Rhythm Fun with Bill Bailey". Here they enjoyed learning how to make music and sound with ...well... almost anything you can think of.

We then headed over to the Magic show with C.R. Ryan Demier. I must say I was very impressed with the magic show. Mr. Demier kept us laughing
and saying, "How did he do that?". My family will be first in line to see him again!

And now to the much awaited event for my children, The Headless Horseman Hay Ride!
I waited until dusk to take the kids on the Headless Horseman hay ride, so that they could get the night time feel of the ride, but also be able to see him and enjoy it. They loved it! As you take on the role of Ichabod Crane riding through on your retreat from the village, you attempt to make it to the bridge without facing The Headless Horseman. Will you make it?
As my 3 year old said "Again, again, Peas!"
The Headless Horseman Hay ride has a complete balance of fun and thrill for all ages to enjoy and will be an annual tradition for my family.

Needless to say, my children are already planning for next years trip to Conner Scarie.
